December 15, 2007: my first gig with VanKatoen.

Today is Saturday. And also day 349 of the 3rd Darker year.
16 days till 2008 hits you in your face.

Today is my first gig with VanKatoen, the band I joined a while backas a soundwizard (Geluidenaar). It's kind of the same thing I do as in Darker but more in the back and with 4 other guys making the fine tunes.
The band is from Holland and their songs are in Dutch. I joined them as they have these great ideas and they are pioneers. I like a connection.
Basically every point I wrote about the music bizz new style in my blogs is done by this band.
Anyway, first gig, so I'm very excited.
The bandbus is amazing: it's a big American yellow schoolbus. And the whole band, crew and equipment fits in!
Once at the destination, we unpack, built up our gear, soundcheck and have a (veggie) BBQ.
We did around 17 songs. I only practised 3 times with the band, so it was pretty heavy to go onstage for me. But with my skills and experience it was do-able.
But I was happy I pulled it off and so did the rest of the band. Coz it was not only my first VanKatoen gig, but also Samir's. He is the new bassplayer. The both of us are those energetic dudes that like to move onstage. So yeah it all elt right.
After the show: chilling and breaking down our gear. Store it in the bus, and move back home.
Boy was I tired.
